Preference was founded in 2002. Our vision is to supply products and consulting services that assist and enable corporations and authorities to make better and more rational decisions. Our clients should both make money and save money through identifying where more information is needed, how probable different scenarios are or what the possible outcome of different options may be.
Our products and services within risk- and decision analysis are the result of more than fourteen years of research, consulting and development. Our methods are based on unique and in-house developed algorithms, which enable decision making in very complex situations where exact information is not available. The model behind the decision tool has successfully been used in different contexts such as storing of nuclear waste, choice of computer systems, company acquisitions and the making of insurance policies.
Preference possess unique competence and experience in the fields of decision making and decision support. Several of our staff have PhD's in computer science and mathematics as well as long experience from leading major projects and consulting within risk- and decision analysis for large corporations such as Telia, SCA, and Ericsson.

Preference staff:
Love Ekenberg, Research, Development, and Consulting, Ph.D. in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Mathematics. Love is specialist and consultant in risk and decision analysis and is working with development of products and methodologies within these areas. Love has extensive experience from various industrial and public sectors, e.g., risk-cost modelling and analyses from the telecom sector and national insurance policies for flood catastrophes. He has also several years experience of logic verification of complex industrial systems, inter alia at Swedish nuclear power plants. Love has worked as project leader, manager and coordinator of major national and international IT projects, and has published numerous research papers on formal methods as well as risk and decision analysis. He is full Professor in Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University as well as full Professor in Computer Science at Mid Sweden University.

Mats Danielson, Research, Development, and Consulting, Ph.D. in Computer Engineering. Mats has extensive experience as IT consultant and has built and developed large-scale software systems within, e.g., risk- and decision analysis. He has also designed nationwide communication systems for electronic commerce. Mats was one of the founders of Result Ventures, a management consultant in electronic commerce with one hundred and forty employees in twelve countries. Mats is full Professor in Computer and Systems Science at Stockholm University. He also holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration from Stockholm University.

Kjell Borking, CEO, have vast experience from the Swedish and international IT market. Kjell's area of competence is business development, management and development. He has been active in the IT business since 1967 and started many successful companies in IT. The first one in 1976 exploiting the then new relational databases (1022), one producing a maintenance management package sold all over the world, 1995 a company developing software for Business intelligence/Data warehousing. In 2002 he formed a management consulting company combining management consulting skills with business intelligence techniques to implement the visions. Kjell was also one of the pioneers in using the Internet and introduced sailing on the World Wide Web, 1991.

Jim Idefeldt, Research, Development, and Consulting, Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Science and MBA. Jim is currently working as portfolio analyst and is a specialist in methods and processes for risk and decision analysis. He has been responsible for the implementation of decision tools and techniques, has been working as Business Intelligence Manager, and as consultant within the areas of business intelligence and risk and decision analysis.

Aron Larsson, Research, Development, and Consulting, Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Science and MBA. Aron works as consultant focusing on development of applicable methods and models of analysis within risk- and decision analysis. He also engaged in the development of DecideIT. Aron has previously worked as consultant within the manufacturing industry with emphasis on production- and market analysis. He is also a researcher at Mid Sweden University and Stockholm University.
