Here is a brief presentation of DecideIT and some of the methods supported by the software. To obtain an insight in how it looks when you are working with DecideIT, see the screenshot below, of course you do not have to keep all the internal windows open at the same time when you are working with the software.
Since DecideIT allows for interval-probabilities, interval-values, and qualitative statements such as "greater than" and "equals to", the evaluation results are presented in the forms of images and graphs, specifically designed for an easy interpretation by a human decision maker. The graph below shows an example of a pairwise comparison between two alternatives, "Alt. 1" and "Alt. 3".
Alt. 1 is "stronger" than Alt. 3 in this case, since
the larger part of the yellow-red area lies on the side of Alt. 3 relative to the horisontal axis. Furthermore, the intuition behind this evaluation graph is that the further to the right we move, the more we zoom in on more reliable values.
As many decision are one-off decisions made only once, there is often a need to introduce risk constraints providing thresholds beyond which a strategy is undesireable. DecideIT provides support for such analyses, letting the decision maker identify alternatives involving undesireable risks.
In this case a lower value of 10 (on a defined value scale) is not accepted with a higher probability than 2%. The analysis shows that "Alt. 1" is the only alternative not violating these security thresholds.
In addition to this functionality, DecideIT supports a number of other methods for analysing decisions under risk and uncertainty. Furthermore, DecideIT provide means for analysing decisions involving multiple and conflicting objectives and several stakeholders with differing views on the objectives.
